Costa Rican Variable Harlequin Toad 

(Atelopus varius)

also refereed to as the clown frog. is a species of toad that can be found in Costa Rica all the way to Panama (thus the name). they are currently critically endangered with a small population in Quepos in Costa Rica. they are diurnal and can be found in streams near mountain and lowland forests. they are toxic and use their vibrant color as a warning system to deter predators from eating them.
